Awards & Recognition

Disability South West prides itself on its ability to recognise outstanding and eminent achievement and service. The following awards are part of our suite of recognition open to people within and outside the organisation.

Joan Harrison Medal

Joan Harrison Medal

The pre-eminent award for service and is named after Joan Harrison, a long time Board Member of Disability South West and local advocate for justice in Liverpool.. Service must directly support Disability South West goals and Objectives. The Medal can be awarded to employees, volunteers and members of the Organisation. The Board of Directors (Awards and Recognition Committee) make decisions on these awards to be presented at each annual general meeting, however special awards can be awarded at any time. A nomination form is completed and sent to the board marked confidential. A letter of offer of an award is sent to successful nominations. The Nominators are also communicated with.

The Medal consists of a medallion with the letters “JHM’ in a round medallion hung around the neck on a dark blue and light blue ribbon. A certificate is issued with the medal.

Ronald Isherwood Medal

Ron Isherwood Medal

The pre-eminent award for mateship, achievement and service by a Person with a disability, and is named after Ronald Isherwood, a long time service user of Disability South West, a good friend to many and a Paralympian. The medal awards mateship, achievement and service to fellow members of Disability South West. The Medal is only open to People with a disability who access Disability South West services. The Board of Directors (Awards and Recognition Committee) make decisions on these awards to be presented at each annual general meeting, however special awards can be awarded at any time. A nomination form is completed and sent to the board marked confidential. A letter of offer of an award is sent to successful nominations. The Nominators are also communicated with.

The Medal consists of a medallion with the letters “RI’ in a Square medallion hung around the neck on a Red & white striped ribbon. A certificate is issued with the medal.

Life Membership Award

Life Membership

Awarded by the Board each year at the Annual General Meeting to a worthy member of the organisation. The Board of Directors (Awards & Recognition Committee) reserves the right to make a decision on the award. The Award consists of a class trophy

Business Achievement Award

Business Achievement Award

Awarded by the Board each year at the Annual General Meeting to a business in the local area that supports Disability South West or our service participants. The Board of Directors (Awards & Recognition Committee) reserves the right to make a decision on the award. The Award consists of a class trophy

Employee Merit Awards

Awarded by the President at any time through a nomination process for outstanding work by an employee. The CEO has no connection with this award to ensure neutrality and transparency. The Award consists of a framed certificate.

Service Participant Merit Awards

Awarded by the President at any time through a nomination process. For outstanding merit by a service participant. The CEO has no connection with this award to ensure neutrality and transparency. The Award consists of a framed certificate.

President’s Award for Merit

Board Presidents Award

Awarded by the President at any time through a nomination process. The CEO has no connection with this award to ensure neutrality and transparency. The Award consists of a framed certificate.

Services Awards (5 Yr., 10 Yr., 15 Yr., 20 Yr.)

Service Awards

Awarded at each Annual General Meeting by the President and CEO to recognise service by employees and volunteers. The Award consists of a framed certificate and a Service Pin denoting the year of service.

CEO Award for Excellence

Awarded by the CEO at any time to recognise outstanding achievement and excellence. The Award consists of a framed certificate and a gift voucher.

Team of the Year

Awarded by the CEO and President at the Annual General Meeting.  The award is based on performance during the year by each team at Disability South West. A silver cup is presented as a perpetual cup held by the team until the next AGM and each team member is presented with a certificate.

Employee of the Year

Awarded by the CEO and President at the Annual General Meeting.  The award is based on performance during the year by employees Disability South West. A Glass trophy is presented as the award each year.
